Colorful Batik Paper Lamps inspired by the famous batik fabric of southern Thailand. Textured, hand painted papers lanterns.
The batik is the wax resist dyeing technique in fabric and is an ancient art form in the ancient Egypt, China, Japan, Indonesia. The melted wax (a mixture of beeswax and paraffin wax) is applied to cloth before being dipped in dye. The beeswax will hold to the fabric and the paraffin wax will allow cracking, which is a characteristic of batik.
Inspired by the making of batik fabric, the Batik Handmade Paper Lamps are made by painting melted candle wax on mulberry paper (rice paper made of paper mulberry) to make the patterns and shapes, then colored by hands.
The batik paper is textural paper that looks bright and is smooth to the touch. Our batik paper lamps reflect Thailand's tropical climate with the sun, the moon, the star, dolphins, palm trees and flowers in colorful eye-catching colors and shiny look.
